Compassion is more important than intellect…

Compassion is more important than intellect in calling forth the love that the work of peace needs, and intuition can often be a far more powerful searchlight than cold reason.
~ Betty Williams

The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another.
~ Thomas Merton

The greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.
~ Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama

Compassion requires a level of understanding that preempts a return to humanity…it’s a spiritual tool.

  1. I certainly agree with your post concerning compassion. God gives each of us gifts to be used as we travel through life. I’ve always been empathic when it come to other’s troubles. Strangers, acquaintances and friends seem to gravitate to me, sharing their hardships and difficulties. They can sense I’m a good listener and that I give good advice. I consider it a blessing but recall that the reason I have such wisdom is that God has place me in the same or similar situations, to teach me how to deal with life’s trials and when to just hold them up to Him for the grace and strength we need to persevere.
